                            THE BOOK AND THE MOVIE

Two weeks ago I finished reading the book “The Firm” by John Grisham. It was really interesting for me to read this story because of the unpredictable plot and the bright characters. At that moment I thought that the book had a really fantastic ending. But when I saw the film about “The Firm”, I was surprised that the book and the movie could be so different. I was amazed with the last episodes of the movie because the content was completely changed, and the main characters became absolutely different people. I realized that I liked the movie more than the book because of the difference in the main characters’ behavior, especially at the end of the story.
First of all, the book and the film differed in the way that they showed Avery. The book represented Avery as an indifferent and cowardly person. Avery didn’t care about other people at all. For example, when he found out that the firm suspected Mitch of working for the FBI, he didn’t try to alert Mitch. Besides that, Avery acted like a coward. When the Mafia got to know that the secret files had been copied because of Avery’s dissolute life, he tried to hide in his girlfriend’s apartment. The movie, on the other hand, presented Avery as a careful and brave person. He really liked Abby in the movie. When Avery understood that the only reason why Abby stayed with him in the condo was copying secret documents, he let her go. Avery didn’t want her to be killed by the Mafia. Also, he wanted Abby to be happy with Mitch. That is why he told her the truth about Mitch and the girl from the beach. Unlike the book, the movie showed that Avery was very courageous because he knew that the Mafia would kill him, but he didn’t hide from it.
Second of all, the book and the film also differed in how they showed Ray as one of the main characters. It the book Ray acted like a brave but cruel man. He went out of prison, and he was ready...
