“Knowing yourself is perhaps the most important competency for manager …. The starting point for being able to develop as a managerial leader.” This is the essay title which I am going to develop in this paper. For this I have chosen two different organization’s manager’s interviews, first is Terry Davis, managing director of Coca-Cola Amatil. Another one is Peerapong Oeusoonthornwattana, director general of Thailand Convention and Exhibitions Bureau. In this essay two CVF roles are discussed i.e. Mentor and Facilitator by studying both managers approach towards the leadership in organizational culture. And also have flash light on the organizational structure and models.

While doing study of manager’s and their roles in management, first bit of information we need is what type of organization they work. As stated above in this essay there are two cases considered for study, so, there are two organizations to study. One organizations is production or manufacturing i.e. Coca-Cola Amatil (CCA) and Thailand Convention and Exhibitions Bureau (TCEB) is service industry and related to tourism and hospitality industry, i.e. event and exhibition organization. So, we begin with the organization’s definition “it is a collection of resources of various kinds formed into or bought into an organization for some conscious purpose.” (Quinn et. al., 2007)

According to above definition manufacturing organizations can be understood very easily, because we can see the tangible resources going in and the product is the output here CCA’s structure fits properly. Form the case I can say that CCA follows machine type organizations, machine type because standardizations in units operations (Mintzberg, 1989). And follows the link pin organizational structure, because of its HR model is overlapping group structure (Mintzberg, 1989).   For e.g. in case managing director Terry Davis states that there is shift of staff from financing department to sales which indicates that CCA follows...
