Description: A non-profit, ecumenical, Christian organization with a mission to elminate substandard housing by building or renovating affordable homes. Through Voluneteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit, financed with affordable, no-interest loans. In addition to a down payment and monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor-sweat equity into building their Habitat houses and the houses of others. Habitat houses are affordable for low-income families because there is no profit included in the sale price and no interest charged on the mortgage. Mortgage lengths varies from seven to thirty years.

Description: Provides civic legal assistance to low-income residents. Legal assistance ranges from advice or brief service to ongoing representation in negotiations and litigation in state and federal courts. Most common legal problems handled include family disputes, problems dealing with bankruptcy and debts,housing and landlord-tenant disputes, and access to health care such as issues involving Medicaid and Medicare. Also, can assist with eligibility for various government benefits such as food stamps, TANF, and SSI.
